London County Hall is a grand and prominent Grade II* Listed Building, located a stone’s throw from Waterloo station on the South Bank of the Thames. Designed by Ralph Knott and built in the early Twentieth Century to house the London County Council (LCC), which was later replaced by the Greater London Council (GLC), it was the first public building to be erected on London’s South Bank.

Today, County Hall is home to numerous businesses and visitor attractions, including the London Eye Visitor Centre, the London Dungeon and the London Sea Life Aquarium, and number of restaurants, cafes and hotels however, significant areas of the building are under-utilised or in need of repair.

Our introduction to the building owner’s in 2020 was the start of a rewarding relationship, where we have been briefed to design and deliver numerous and ongoing improvements, additions and sustainable interventions across various parts of the building, from concept through to delivery. At the heart of each of these projects is a desire to breathe new life into under-utilised parts of the building, deliver tangible improvements for visiting members of the public and the businesses operating within, and make positive contributions befitting the grand presence of this landmark building.

One of the key challenges faced across all of our projects at County Hall has been the Grade II* listed status of the building. Our depth of experience with Listed Buildings, Conservation and Regeneration have been invaluable in all aspects of working on County Hall, and our expertise in this area has resulted in numerous successful Listed Building Consent applications, which will unlock new opportunities for future building users and ensure the ongoing effective use and upkeep of this grand and prominent building into the future.
