Y Buildings

Client:
SAV Group

Location:
Bromley, London

Project Size:
73 apartments

Project Type:

Adaptive Reuse, Airspace, Residential

Y buildings were originally built in 1970’s as student accommodation and later used as offices by Bromley Council. Set in the historic Bromley Palace Park and named after their distinctive floor plan shape, they offered the opportunity for adaptive reuse to create 73 new residential apartments through conversion, with additional flats within rooftop extensions, bringing the long-vacant premises back into meaningful use.

MDLR provided full architectural services navigating technical requirements of the recently updated prior approval process, securing planning consent on a very challenging site adjacent to the listed Bishop’s Palace and Council’s own offices.
